Conductor. He is a regular guest at theaters like the Vienna State Opera and Paris Opera. Further engagements have taken him to the Bavarian State Opera in Munich, Opéra du Capitole Toulouse, Semperoper Dresden, Royal Opera House London, Opera Australia Sydney, Zurich Opera House, Theater an der Wien, Frankfurt Opera, Canadian Opera Company Toronto, Korean National Opera Seoul, Opéra national du Rhin in Strasbourg and the Hong Kong Arts Festival, among others.
He was Principal and Chief Conductor of the Komische Opera Berlin and General Music Director of the Hessian State Theater Wiesbaden. In Berlin, his interpretations of Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Rusalka and Der Freischütz received international acclaim. During his time in Wiesbaden, he led new productions of e.g. Tannhäuser, Arabella, Un ballo in maschera, Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Jenůfa, Salome, Carmen, Der Rosenkavalier and Der fliegende Holländer. He also attracted national attention for his adaptation of The Magic Flute for children.
On the concert stage, he has worked with orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, Madrid Symphony, Tonkünstler Orchestra of Lower Austria, the Hamburg and Bamberg Symphonies, Staatskapelle Weimar, Mahler Chamber Orchestra, as well as the radio symphony orchestras of the BR, SWR and WDR. He has toured with the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields, the Stuttgart Philharmonic, the Vienna RSO, and several times with the German Federal Youth Orchestra, with which he is closely associated.
