Soprano. She studied at the State Higher School of Music in Warsaw where she graduated with honours and was awarded the Kazimierz Czekotowski prize. When she was a 3rd year student she debuted in the National Theatre in Warsaw and after graduation she was employed there. She sang the title part in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and Roxana in King Roger by Szymanowski; Violetta in La traviata, Amelia in Masked Ball, Leonora in The Force of Destiny, Maira in Simone Boccanegra and Elvira in Ermani – all by G. Verdi; Marguerite in Faust by Gounod; Micaëla in Carmen by Bizet; Sophie in The Knight of the Rose by R. Strauss; Mimi in La Boheme and Liu in Turandot by G. Puccini; Sophie in Werther by J. Massenet; Hanna in The Haunted Manor and Neala in Paria by S. Moniuszko; Maria in Mazepa by P. Tschaikovsky; Pamina in The Magic Flute, Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni and Countess in The Marriage of Figaro by W. A. Mozar; Nedda in Pagliacci by R. Leoncavallo; Antonia in The Tales of Hoffmann by J. Offenbach; Elvira in The Italian Girl in Algiers by G. Rossini; Xenia in Boris Godunov by M. Musorgsky; Eve in Paradise Lost by K. Penderecki; Oriona in Amadigi and Romilda in Xerxes by G. F. Haendel; Freia in The Rheingold by R. Wagner; Aldona in The Lithuanians by A. Ponchielli.
She sang major soprano parts in the concert performances of The Trojans by H. Berlioz, Bluebeard’s Castle by B. Bartok, Sister Angelica and The Cloak by G. Puccini, Il tramonto by O. Respighi. She is a successful performer of oratorio and cantata repertoire (Stabat Mate by A. Dvořák, K. Szymanowski and G. Battista Pergolesi, Great mass in c-moll by W. A. Mozart, Requiem by G. Verdi, Magnificat by J. S. Bach, Symphony no. 9 by L. van Beethoven, Dies irae, Polish Requiem, Credo and Seven Gates to Jerusalem by K. Penderecki, Symphony no. 3 by H. M. Górecki). In January 2001 she participated in the world première of Missa pro pace by W. Kilar (oeuvre which was dedicated to the National Philharmonics on the occasion of its 100th anniversary). In 2003 she took part in the tournée of the National Opera in Japan (Turandot). She performed also as a soloist of the Vienna Philharmonics during a New Year’s Concert in Osaka (Johann Strauss Ensemble).
She gave guest performances in Amsterdam, Utrecht, Eindhoven, Hanover, Dortmund, Leipzig, Dresden, Berlin, Hamburg, Zurich, Bern, London, Glasgow, Vatican, Tallinn and in South Korea, Japan, Venezuela, Brazil and the USA. She sang in the American renditions of King Roger in Buffalo and Detroit; she participated in the American première of Saint Ludmila oratorio by A. Dvořák (Carnegie Hall) and in auditions and preparations for the title part in Rusalka by Dvořák (Metropolitan Opera). She participated in numerous festivals, including Alicante, Maastricht, Bayonne, inn Warsaw Autumn and Vratislavia Cantas.
She made numerous recordings for radio and TV. She made CDs and DVDs of majority of K. Penderecki oeuvre. Her arias recorded for the Polish Radio were regarded as the best recording of 1990. In 2006 in Japan she was awarded for the recording of Polish Requiem by K. Penderecki under the baton of Antoni Wit (Record Academy Award 2005 given by “Geijutsu” musical magazine for the best recording of contemporary music).
In 1996 Izabela Kłosińska was chosen the Diva of the Year in the ranking of „Przegląd Tygodniowy” (weekly magazine). In 1999 she received the Award of the Minister of Culture and Art for her achievements in the field of vocal music; in 2000 – The Andrzej Hiolski Award for the best opera part of the season 1999/2000 in Madama Butterfly. She was also awarded with the Gloria Artis Medal for her services for culture.
She is an academic teacher at the F. Chopin University of Music in Warsaw.
